Dodging Showers

Went out for a few on Sunday evening with KTB. The heavy rains cooled off the temperature which actually made it quite pleasant...

Dos Stoked

So the boys over at Locklear Motorbike Club did Dos Stoked, a small checkpoint scramble on Sunday afternoon. It was open to anything on 2 wheels; bike, motorcycles, mopeds, scooters what have you. Pretty much consisted of a race across town to snap a few pictures at different checkpoints and then return back to the start point to tally up the number of places you hit. They even opened it up to team play but there was a points penalty for the number of team members a team had. Aaron, Horsebites, KTB, Garrett and myself all linked up as a team so right off the bat, we had a 5 point penalty at every stop. Because of this we decided to hit the checkpoints that were the big point spots. The plan was to hit Gatorland, then hit the speedway out in Bithlo, then out to Jaxs Cycle Salvage in Sanford. We would then hit a couple of spots on the way back in to Stardust for a few extra points. Well like they say, the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray...

Scramble Manifest. Look at all those checkpoints!

We made good time headed south on Orange towards Gatorland. At this point I was thinking we had this shit, no problem. We then cut over to hit OBT and thats where things sloooowed down. We hit every traffic light, I shit you not. What should have been a couple of miles (or about 5-7 minutes max) took us well over 20 min to reach. Once we got there, we had to deal with an ornery redneck groundskeeper who was giving us all kinds of shit for where we stopped to snap a picture. He was so preoccupied with kicking us out he didn't realize he was in reverse and almost backed into me. Things got a little heated and once we snapped the necessary pictures and snagged a brochure, we bolted. Since we got delayed so much here, we decided to take I-4 to Sanford so we could hit Jaxs. We had the bright idea of getting on the 417, run a toll or two and then hit I-4. Well that got fucked as well. The "exit" for I-4 off 417 dumps you right smack in the middle of 192, a notorious road that leads to the House of the Mouse. Its rammed full of tourists and traffic was a nightmare. Turns out the attractions is the worst place to be traffic wise regardless of what day of the week it is. We rolled east and had to get off on Maitland Blvd for KTB & horsebites to fuel up. Again, another bad decision lead us away from the interstate and we wasted a good bit of time finding a gas station. At this point the heat was beating us down. We also realized there was no way in hell we were going to make it the start point before the deadline. Being the easily swayed fuckers we are, horsebites suggested crashing a pool at his friends place. Considering how ridiculously hot it was, that became the plan.

Here's a few pictures from that day.

All in all a good excuse to get out for a couple of hours and spend some time with friends. Raniel said he's going to do another one soon, I'll keep you all posted...
